Never Alone

Never Alone

A Poem by Askew

I'm not alone,
And I will never be alone.
On my best days
And on my worst,
I am never alone.
Even in an empty room
I am not alone.

I need to be alone.
I crave the kind of solitude
That I've gone three years without.
As long as he is out there,
As long as he still relishes his freedom,
I am forever robbed of "alone."

This is a first world country,
One that prides itself
On being fair and just.
Riddle me this:
Where is my justice?

I am afraid!
Afraid of what he did to me.
Afraid of what he turned me into.
Afraid that I may see him again.

I don't know how to love
And I sabotage what love I'm given.
I don't understand how it works.

"No" means nothing anymore,
It's meaning was stolen by blood.

Leave me alone.

It is frightening to be alone and know that even in your solitude you are not safe. Lurking out there, somewhere is the thing or someone who did you harm and in your lonesomeness, your solitude, you are fearful of their return and what it might mean. This is a strong write.

Take care - Dave

again...you hit the target...another write dealing with someone being abused, innocence stolen.
and once that happens, the memory will always be there. the speaker will never feel totally safe.
that has been pillaged by his act.
she is never alone even when she is, because he still exists.
wow...these writes are raw and real and scary.
