Turned to Trust

Turned to Trust

A Poem by Askew

An unexpected friend
Turned unexpected love
A new confidante
Turned new companion

Like a worm trusting the earth
To hide it from the birds
Like a bird trusting the branch
To hold its entire self
Like a branch trusting the tree
To keep it high in the air
Like a tree trusting the roots
To give it what it needs to survive
Like a root trusting the rain
To provide it with liquid life source
Like a raindrop trusting the sea
To embrace it when it falls
Like a sea trusting the sailors
To admire it strength and promise
Like a sailor trusting the ship
To always bring him back home

The need to know
And the need to keep to oneself
Always at battle
But the tide can be turned

Trust - what an interesting commodity! Where or who would we be without it? You are right, we give it in the expectation that we aren't being foolish. When it comes to love - ah - there is the greatest place o find or demonstrate our trust.

Take care - Dave
