I've Forgotten

I've Forgotten

A Poem by Alexis

I've forgotten to tell you

You're my world and you are so dear

When I have you with me,

There's no such thing as fear

I didn't remember to hug you

I didn't take the chance I had when it was right there

Please don't be angry with me

My heart is already beginning to tear

I've forgotten to talk to you

You're always there to listen to me

Why did I not do the same for you?

I suppose I'm becoming too blind to see

I didn't remember all that you've done for me

I took it all for granted and didn't even say thanks

I never found a way to make it up to you

Drown me in the river and let me wash up on the banks

I've forgotten you were standing right next to me

I stopped paying attention, avoided all humans altogether

At one point you were actually here

But now I'm afraid I'll lose you forever

I didn't remember how much I love you. Now you're gone.

Most of us learn too late how special someone was when they are gone. I like the way you wrote the poem. Allowing the reader to feel the sadness of not a good enough goodbye. A very strong ending to a excellent poem.

I agree with Cloud. Raw emotion and great power. Never stop writing, promise me that.

This is such a sorrowful story... The bitter realization after they're already out of your grasp. How beautifully terrible... You've captured this emotion very, very well. This was an incredible piece. Keep on writing, don't you ever stop.
