Looking for Angels

Looking for Angels

A Poem by Alexis
"

Yes, this poem does have the same title as the song by Skillet. <3

"

Stumbling all through life

searching for just one person

everyone just leaves

What am I left with?

I try and get through it all on my own,

falling and only attempting to get back up

I sometimes don't think I can make it

I'm too afraid to open my eyes to the truth

In a world that seems so uncaring and cruel

Where am I to find my angel?

I see nothing but blackness and fumble around

Searching for soft, gentle hands to hold me up

What am I to do when I have no one?

Stumbling all through life

searching for just one person

everyone just leaves

What am I left with?

I tell myself that I'm alright on my own

If I fall, only I can pick myself back up

If I don't think I can make it, too bad

I have to open my eyes to the blinding light

In a world that seems so full of hate

Where am I to find my angel?

I see nothing but the carelessness and distrust

I search for the loving and sensitive

Am I the only one who sees this all going on?

Stumbling all through life

searching for just one person

When everyone just seems to be completely gone

What am I left with?

Your delicate and smooth hands used to hold my own

but when the love all turns to pain,

I'm left all alone and full of shame

My heart was not just something to loan

Stumbling all through life

searching for just one person

When the only one you loved is completely gone

You have nothing left.
