Awake In The State Of Oblivion

Awake In The State Of Oblivion

A Poem by Lehlohonolo Lichaba

I speak the signs.
Shout out the silence.
Crawl the skies.
Wrapped in my blanket of religion I'm an atheist.

I'm my dreams
My thoughts
My paradise oasis of my own misery
I'm the triumphant of apartheid
Hope to the oppressed.

I am the brightest darkness.
Alive full of dreams I'm a corpse.
The rain in the desert
The snow that keeps it dry
Conscious and aware like I'm in a state of oblivion.

I'm my past my present
I'm history my own future
In deceased still breathing
A rainbow I'm deprived colors
