Romantic poetry is a broad genre. Subjectively, I find that affection between two women are the most powerful. The poet paints "Her" as a work of art rather than a sexual object. "Her" speaks of friendship on the precipice of lover. I feel as though the poet is in love with a heterosexual woman which is depicted in the following line: "I am longing/To be/One of your men." The poet appears to feel guilty for her feelings so she preserves these hauntings in the beauty of innocence.

Beautiful work, Wild Willow Blue! I can relate to this longing for a girl you cannot be with.
