I Remember

I Remember

A Poem by Wild Willow Blue
"

Only true power is in the years passing by..

"

I remember a time when everything seemed new

back when stillness required piece of mind

Mom’s lipstick colored her like the setting sun

never staining Dad’s forehead as she bent down to him

Trees that were so green are now oh so sad

their leaves still swaying as if to say My love is still strong

His glass of water a statue on the desk

no one has moved it since the cancer came back

Two chairs now only one as she sits by herself in the setting sun

a soft tear rolling down her cheek

I wish I could save my father from himself

It just doesn’t make sense. Why can’t anyone else?

Fear is hard to overcome when you just don’t know

everything gets old, but I remember

I remember when it was new
