I Am From...My Past

I Am From...My Past

A Poem by Faye
"

The past shapes and changes the soul, often creating something new...no one seems to realize how much a broken past can truly change a child...

"

I am from forgotten memories,

and memories that haunt,

From painful secrets kept too long,

secrets ignored once confessed.

I am from smiles that disappeared,

and refused to return,

from laughter that died out,

And fear, betrayal, and sadness,

but unwavering loyalty.

I am from days spent wandering lonely halls,

ignoring sneers and harsh words,

from being kind only to be laughed at,

and being accepted only when the mind snaps,

and violence is unleashed.

I am from afternoons in dark rooms,

where the smallest amount of light lit pathways,

to unheard of lands,

and from the longing to create my own new lands.

I am from cold nights that cried acid tears,

causing more hurt than comfort,

from fresh love that warms the heart,

but just as quickly breaks it.

I am from the pure song that rises to battle heavy burdens,

and love found once more that banishes the darkness.
