Shy Mind, Shy Bladder

Shy Mind, Shy Bladder

A Poem by Blue Belle
"

About social anxiety. I wrote this poem the same night as "The Only Way I Know How To Speak."

"

Social Anxiety
Is communications evil twin.
It's strength is judgement,
It's weakness is confidence and courage.
Even talking about normal life experiences
Can be so distressing;
It doesn't make sense,
But it's true.
That's what frustrates me most.
Average people have no problem
Having a conversation about daily norms,
Such as how the human body works.
For me, it's torture,
Even to say there is pressure in my bladder.

I can agree completely with the downfalls that social anxiety brings and the fact that some people don't understand how hard that is and use it to judge harshly astound me. I can very much relate to this poem as it describes every social situation I have ever been in before. Good read and write.

The title caught my eye and I wasn't expecting it to be full of emotion and actually tell the side of a shy person. The last line is brilliant by the way.

Thank you so much! It means a lot. :)
I like how you ended it. rather than just saying, "going to the bathroom" or something like that, you say "there is pressure in my bladder" which is not something 'average' people would say. it shows the difference. social anxiety is not an easy thing to deal with, at all. one of my biggest sources of frustration, i'll tell you that. welcome, writing. the pen can say what my tongue cannot, aye, and what a relief it is. great write
