A Poem by WaitingToBeFound

My life hangs in the balance, suspended, it's on the line.

Your life is a line. Your heart is a (beep) on a machine,

Someone, something, is trying to take you away, stop you being mine.

You only lived once?

What about the amount of times you,

You fell in love? (beep) Immersed yourself in another,

Lived their hurt and pain like your own, and

You had their strength and courage,

Because, you weren't alone, you were ready to fly.

And you, you had your heart broken. (beep)

You gave someone everything, but they turned to run,

They left with your wings,

Left you without flight, but your life went on.

And the times you looked across something, (beep)

And you, you had to say:

"Look at that. Isn't it beautiful?"

You only lived once.

every time your heart skipped a beat,

every time your breath was taken away,

as much as you could of every moment, every day.

Now, (beep) do me a favour. Open your eyes.

Agree, this is a beautiful poem. The emotions are powerful here and were supported with the occasional (beep)s. I also like the imagery, as if the person was looking back on his/her life before death. Nice ending, too.
