Falling Into Fear

Falling Into Fear

A Poem by Mercury Mirrors
"

This is my situation now...I thought I was writing about just gray clouds but this came out....my innermost fears...The reluctance to choose has haunted me for the past year & now even though I stay away from the edge, I still find the earth falling o

"

The heavy gray clouds seem to press down on me,
They’re all around me, they’re all that I see.
Thick, silver mist obscuring my vision,

I wave my hand through it to make an incision.

It doesn’t split open, it just swallows my wrist,

I take back my hand, wet with the perspiration’s kiss.
I try to take a step, but my foot finds a ledge.
It’s but a foot in front of me, & I can’t see the edge.

“If I just stay where I am, I know I won’t fall”

I think to myself, trying not to move at all.
But somehow still the ground disappears,
And I plunge face-first into my nightmares & fears.

Great description of the soul's overhelm by desperation and the ''beauty'' of cutting.

ohhh, now this is some excellent writing!!! Especially those last two lines.
I like what you did with the ryhming and it all runs together really well. Nicely done!

And then wake up, right before you go splat!
Yep, on the edge, kind of like my picture here.
At least in your dream/poem, you faced your fears head on,
that's good. I have a poem, Breakout, you might like.

Good stuff here poet.
Keep it up!

Ahhhh, yes, this very thing is where I live on some very frightening days. I'm always making reference to my head about stepping off the edge, if I could just take that one step, get through that one fear and leap, perhaps I'd not fall, instead I'd fly....
I like this Lizz. Great piece!
