The fog

The fog

A Poem by E.A. Standifer

When you can feel the fog trying to creep in... Can feel its cold, grey fingers clawing, trying to grab hold of any little thing that it can. Any doubt. Any insecurity. Any failure. And it promises not the excitement of dawn, nor the peace of nightfall. Neither the illumination of light nor the mystery of darkness. But seeks only to expand. To leave you stranded in a vast emptiness. To cloud your vision. Distort any perception of time and space. To convince you that you are alone. That feeling... The loneliness... Is far more dangerous than any other. Reach out. Please, reach out.
You are not alone.
