Feminine Divinity

Feminine Divinity

A Poem by E.A. Standifer

Women serve as a carnal embodiment of natural order...

Perhaps this is why we are disrespected by man.

Perhaps this is the root of consistent attempts to reduce us;

To reduce us to a narrow, subservient, hyper-sexualized shell of womanhood.

Something to be conquered.

Well, children of Earth, similar to the spirit we embody,

We cannot be conquered.

And similar to the spirit we embody,

We endlessly endure the frustrated hostility and abuse of man.

Use her waters to explore your fantasies, and passive aggressively pollute them with garbage.

But, take heed,

There is no magnitude of strength in the world that can combat the sea as she rages.

Trample her sacred grounds.

Cut down her trees of wisdom.

Replace her natural inclinations with ones that better suit your own. But,

No amount of invention will fill your bellies once she is too worn to bear fruit.

And, at some point,

Nor will it help you to breathe once you are suffocating in the environment that you created.

No measure of man’s regret can restore harmony once balance has been thrown into oblivion,

And our feminine nature’s contribution,

Stripped of its essence,

Is but a fragile husk containing a crude reflection of man’s.
