a man can dream

a man can dream

A Poem by Brian F. Lockard

She is the one

She might be you

The one that inspires

My soul to catch fire,

My ambition to become reality

She is the one

Who inspires kings to

Melt crowns,

And widows

To spin their webs

Of atonement

I will know it is her when

I am close,

when I smell the wine on her breath

and so...

Disquiet, my heart

beats against its cage

Like a frightened,

Singing sparrow

One day you’ll hear it

One day you will not

But it always

Beats for you…

The girl who never sings

for me

Quite the "dream" and well worth the pause to hear it.

The flow of this is simply perfect and the pure sense of love. Beautifully written

I liked the honest tone of the poem. Allowed the reader to feel the statements and I did like how you ended the poem. Thank you Brian for sharing the amazing poetry.
