Let Me

Let Me

A Poem by Gabby

My thoughts are dead
My mind is weak
I try to say something
But I simply can not speak
It's like I'm on repeat
Almost incomplete
Can anyone hear me?
Am I actually here?
I am dead on the inside
Alive on the outside
Can you see this smiling girl?
So sad and alone
I try to speak
My words unavailable
I am screaming
Shouting at the top of lungs
Hoping for a simple response
But non of you know me
Non of you care
You pass me by in the hallways
Looking at me with a stare
A stare of anger
A stare of hope
Or a simple stare from a stranger
But not one hello
Let me speak
Let me shout
Let me have one outburst of thought
A thought out loud
Let me be great
Let me be strong
I know I'm not very smart
But I am strong
I keep trying and trying
Working so hard
Just let me speak
Say one word
Cause' my mind is weak
My thoughts are dead
There is this monster
Inside my head

Being able to relate to a poem is always a plus in my book, since it's always nice to connect with the writer in some way, shape, or form. "I am dead on the inside
Alive on the outside" I've definitely been there. I like the flow of this poem. It carries me a long from beginning to end seamlessly. The one thing I would recommend is add stanza breaks to this poem, so it's easier to read for all the readers out there. This isn't something that you have to work on, but if you want to experiment into writing even better poems, I'd recommend, adding some vivid imagery as well. Anyway, I definitely like this poem and it was certainly an enjoyable read

P.S. You've got a rather captivating "About Me" lol
