A Poem by Emily

As summer gets closer I start to miss you more and more,
We're about to get ready to open the trailer up north,
The place where we had the most memories together,
Memories that will never be forgotten,
You used to pull us out of school early when we were young,
All so we could get up north early and have family time,
Time out on the lake before it got busy,
You whipping us around on tubes,
Waking us up the next morning bright and early,
Us hardly being able to lift our hands above our heads but we were ready for round two.
I feel closest to you up north, sitting on your bench,
Watching the fire in your huge fire pit.
You were the most amazing human and I'm so blessed I got to call you my dad.

Touching memories of the days you had your Dad with you. Your grief came through as I read your poem. My Dad's been gone 28 years now, and I still think about him every day. You learn to live with it and your grief will soften over time.
