Mirror, Mirror

Its just a reflection
I see in the glass
Nothing more, nothing less
Will ever look back…
I cannot see deeper into my eyes
Simply a gaze
I truly surmise.
What's really within me
I'll never find
Inside this trickster
Mesmerizing the mind
The mirror I peer in
Remains a façade
Fantasies speak danger
When vanity's a god.

This is a great poem and for all those who think outer beauty is all there is, it ought to be required reading!

A little different take than the Mirror Mirror on the wall, I liked this poem very well put together.

A very provocative piece! Mirrors are the deception our modern age. Imagine a world before mirrors were invented! Much more time would've been spent on the inward self as well as the environment around. Thanks for this poem.

Oh my... very nice. A departure from all the usual "I looked into the mirror" pieces. I like your honest and matter-of-fact approach. We are who we are after all, no matter what we would like to present to the world!
