The abyss

The abyss

A Poem by Lourisa

Nothing matters anymore.

The sun shines, the wind blows,

The grass grows.

Who cares?

Nothingness turned into something

Emptiness filled with happy lies.

But who cares?

White roses broken, tainted

By splattered mud

Trampled on and gone.

Blackness enters every cell

Black sun, black wind, black grass

To suffer such attack.

But who cares?

Misty visions of salvation

A starry sanctuary

Illusions of the heart.

Nothing matters anymore

A beautiful and moving way, to describe the depth of depression, Lourisa. One, which I can relate to, in too many ways. Am hoping, you're experiencing depression, currently, and this poem is, of past experiences, of your feelings.

I really like the repetitions in between so many lines. I'm currently questioning:

"Nothingness turned into something
Emptiness filled with happy lies."

Is this all supposed to be 1 sentence or 2 fragments? I ask because if it's meant to be 1 sentence, I would say:

"Nothingness turned into emptiness
Filled with happy lies."

Otherwise, I would say:

"Nothingness turned into something.
Emptiness filled with happy lies."

Anyway, good job! :)

A sad and dark poem and yet you wrote it softly - and there is beauty in that softness. You have touched my heart with this one my friend.

Thanks Julie. And thanks also for seeing the softness in the poem, I didn't even see it myself.

Nothing matters anymore

Loved the imagery created here. I can just see a hand to grasping in the mist.

Thanks, Pryde.
Oh, real sadness and darkness flow from this poem...The white rose in the mud is so expressive and vivid image of lose of hope. But not all is consumed from darkness, as still the sun shines. Just the feeling of emptiness is there, so no one could care about the beauty, when the abyss is there...all is forgotten, even existing. Illusions of the heart can make you strong warrior or in the last stage in universe...So we have to choose! lovely written!
