Dear Daddy

Dear Daddy

A Poem by Heidi Hallucination

A little girl sits sobbing in the nursery

Reading the old black book her father had given her

Alone she sat in the dark

With no one to comfort her

Her drawings over the walls

Of her father

Sobbing she grabs the piece of paper under the book

She writes her dear father a letter

"Dear Daddy,"

"Please come home I need you here with me and stay here. I miss your smile, your laugh, and how you play ball with me out in the yard everyday. I feel so alone with out here. I can't wait for your safe return so that I can spend lost time with you since you left. I miss you daddy I hope you do too."

She folded the letter and handed it to her mother to give to the postman

She watched him through the window taking the letter from her mother

She sobbed

She had missed her father

But what the poor child didn't know

Was that her father would never get the letter

Or see her ever again.

There were some misplaced words in the piecewas that intentional? If so, never mind.

This was particularly difficult to read because I never knew my father. I envy those who had the luxury of having both a mother and father to see them through their difficult times. Not to say my mother didn't do a good job at raising me. It's just thatI needed a father.

Very Sad. But very nicely done.
