The Pain

Another poem I had to write for my English 1 Honors Class. We had to write a love-themed poem. I used one of my favorite movies, 500 Days of Summer and personal experience as my muse for it.

 

In the start, it left you with nothing to say;

Made you feel like you were floating on a cloud.

You actually thought it would stay that way,

So the worry you held inside was never spoken aloud.

 

But when it finally started to go,

And that happiness was leaving you,

Your fears started to show,

And you were left wondering what to do.

 

What started out sweet,

Turned bitter and sour.

Sadly nothing can beat,

A feeling with so much power.

 

Here you are now,

Realizing what you have allowed to be done,

You always thought love would be,

A lot more exciting and fun.

 

You never anticipated the pain,

And that’s what is truly making you go insane.

Amazing. I don't think you should explain what exactly is causing the pain. In fact I strongly (and respectfully) disagree. You leave the reader asking questions, I like that. If there was a poem that told you everything, what fun would that be.

Example:
There was a bird,
Who was afraid to fly,
Because he didn't want to fall face first onto the ground and hurt himself,
So what did he do? He died
Because he couldn't fly,
And couldn't get food, and all that jazz.

Wow, that was really bad. I apologize.

Anyway, leave it how it is. The expression amazing. Awesome job.

I liked it, you wrote it very well.

But the pain of what? a break up? arguments? I think it would need to explain what.
