Simplicity (the average man)

being simple vs seeking truth

You have been deceived, 

I cannot tell if I am the real me,

Because the me that I pretend to be,

is slowly taking over me.

It started in my heart,

the slow and steady change, 

where emotions were once held,

now locked deep inside it's cage,

Instead replaced with dread,

instilled by the day ahead,

no longer wanting to move,

instead having everything to lose,

and then it spread to my eyes,

no longer seeking truth,

instead seeing what's in front of me,

and leaving all questions behind,

accepting what it may be,

and slowly it spread to my brain,

processing life was never the same,

where once I thought about things,

now I am a slave to society's whims,

this poison has taken control,

and as for you,

will you let it grow?
