Selfish Sinner

Selfish Sinner

A Poem by Sydnye Louise

Selfish sinner

When fear grows in your mind and soils your thoughts,

you feel alone and afraid of the wind.

Running for cover but ceasing to find,

the reason you selfishly sinned.

Under your silent screams from within

you wish you could bring out your voice.

Beneath a tree, you sit in the mud,

and try to reason your self-seeking choice.

Your body is clothed and covered from rain,

yet you feel exposed and cold in the storm.

Your worryful thoughts and your self-centered heart,

curl up in the shadows to mourn.

Frantically searching for someone you know,

but they all seem to have left you behind.

Now just wallow in pity and have shame for yourself,

unless you choose not to be blind.

Study your actions and learn your mistakes,

pull your greed and your love far apart.

Hope that the seeds of unselfish care,

will grow tall and strong in your heart.
