My Place For Dinner

My Place For Dinner

Come to my place for dinner
I’ll save you a special seat
from soup to nuts I’ll serve you
trust me, it'll be quite a treat!

We’ll begin with an aperitif of judgment
then a bowl of passive aggressive soup
next a croissant with pâté of opinion
sure to be a hit with your peer group

We’ll cleanse the palate with original thought
a new taste sensation for some
shall we go on to the entree now?
Best you check with your chum!

A lovely fillet of mainstream beliefs
atop a bed of dogmatic principle
please do leave room for a yummy dessert
OH NO... you haven't had your fill?

A trifle of rules, values, and ethics
with a topping of luscious whipped cream
now really I ask you my friends
is this tasty meal not supreme?

You may want to spell relief after all this
perhaps you’ll have indigestion
can I expect you to return next week?
Hey, that’s a rhetorical question!

I wrote this when I was frustrated with someone's behavior a few months ago. It made me feel MUCH better! Enjoy!

This is the most exquisite & hilarious bit of sarcasm EVER!! I'm in love!! If only people could be so gentle with their criticisms, then our world would not be so full of strife. This is true brilliance. It explains why I'm a practically a recluse, preferring nature & furry friends! *smile*

Haha! perhaps you'll have indigestion! This is amazing! Very well written. In fact, someone just crossed my mind while i was reding this poem, and I'm thinking of texting her right now, "Come dine with me!"; all these mainstream beliefs, judgement, rules, everything!

This is a brilliant method of cutting someone who obviously needs it down to size. It is clear that you are very capable of writing my archaic type of poem when you are so inclined. If it weren't for a few places where it was necessary to fit in the longer words, the meter would be perfect. I don't think anyone could have written it any better. Perhaps you should invite me to your next dinner and serve me crow.
Thank you for referring me to this splendid poem.

I would love to dine with you. I would bring a Merlot of motive and loaf of manly lies. Perhaps I could prepare my sauce of seduction and finish it all off with a pinch of tomorrow's respect. Extremely well done, Lydia. An enjoyable read indeed and one to read again.
