again

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

rainy day "stuff"

"

without pain

            sans passion

i see the world as it is today

through a rain streaked window

                        like a hoyden

i rant at the greedy squatter in my brain

inequities will not be tolerated!

                      like a wide-eyed schoolgirl

i gather beauty in my arms

a benign smile creeps to my lips

a calm moment

releasing me from bitterness

a moment i will remember tomorrow

with a curious mingling

of pleasure and pain

when the world

has its way with me

again

The beauty of nature is surely a great comforter to all of us, Lydi. When people have done us wrong, we often turn to its loving arms to regain our peace of mind. This poem is truly beautiful. Framed by lovely graphics, your words shine like the morning sun rising over the horizon.

Such a beautiful way to illustrate finding some beautyin a world where pain may be a constant.

haha, "when the world has its way again with me...". This tells you without any room for doubt that the poem is well titled. How beautiful!

Refreshing to know the blandness did not stay long and the wide eyed wonderment of the world around soon came flooding back in torrents !

It always does, Tom. After all, I am a poet! :) Thank you for your review. Lydi**
The pain and the passion of life go hand in hand it seems, compelling thoughts here, love the rain streaked window, seems to bring about many deep and introspective thoughts. Muchly enjoyed Lydi!

A very compelling poem which I enjoyed. What you write here is so true, we must ind the beauty in life but pain seems to find us.

The thought of gathering beauty is a marvelous one. You paint a lovely picture despite the pain that is always ready to tap us on the shoulder...but perhaps this time we won't turn around. I also love the pictures too.
