for just that one moment

nothing like an early morning walk on the beach

the sky this morning

was burgundy wine

seagulls debated

over who would catch the plumpest fish

the world was my coffee mug

and the java was spiced with sea air  

a wanton page of newsprint 

wrapped itself around 

an unsuspecting palm trunk

there were no blanks

in the conversation i had with me

gathering a cache of inspiration for later use

i smiled

because for just that one moment

all was right with my world

This is lovely. Short and sweet, with wonderful images. I love the line "the world was my coffee mug". It conjures up those rich warm moments of being perfectly content and happy with everything around you. The perfect day. The perfect morning. I really enjoy how you create that warmth. I also love "there were no blanks...in the conversation I had with me..." that is a lovely way to put being along with your thoughts, and at peace with your own companionship. I really enjoyed this from beginning to end! Well done!

The color burgundy wine, is so serene, especially when we walk, in those early mornings, (do yoga) and are one with nature. I felt a sweet Indonesian touch into this one ;) and ofcourse, I love that...
This could be in the now, in the past, (personally I love if it were the past though), the story's you've told me, would fit this one pretty well... your words, bring healing somehow, and strength. A fantastic piece Lydi, knuffels, Elisa xx

Yes, walking at sea is one of my favorite things to do... if I have a free weekend, I'm at Haarlem, (Zandvoort) mostly, or at Scheveningen or Kijkduin, near The Hague (Den Haag) the last one also to be after in my favorite piano bar, "Crazy Piano's" where I feel always reborn, and drink a hot chocolate... winter hiking is my favorite.... :D you're so welcome love, this was a beautiful piece. xx

I have fond memories of Scheveningen....the boardwalk there is so lovely. Also, in Belgium...Blankenburg. Those were the days! We have a place similar to "crazy pianos" here and it is so much fun.

Ah yes! :) so great.... Blankenburg is beautiful, also Knokke... (in Belgium). Also I love the beach in Zeeland, (Catzand). Oh really? I should be there def. when I come to visit Florida... :D I'm mad about piano bars lol.... :D

Hmm, I love those moments when reality sets in and our instincts to survive take over in calm, cool, collected, love for ourselves. Some of my best moments sleep in those coversations!lol I think some might say this tone is melancholy but I think it is womanly, subtle, and wise!

Lydia, funnily enough, I am very well acquainted with good old e.e's poetical works & although I suspect where you might be coming from, you will undoubtedly be aware that he had a tendency to mix and mash capitals with lower case, often within the same stanza, line or verse... Unfortunately, my mental muscle does not allow me to feel comfortable with this... perhaps this is an age thing or otherwise indoctrinated by an over zealous English teacher somewhere in the distant past. My comments were merely an observation & not meant to be taken as a criticism...
