Never Forgotten

Never Forgotten

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

The memory of your smile curved into mine this morning

the sun peeked through the trees as I took my walk

my bare arm was caressed by its warmth

I thought of how much you would have loved the feeling

             it’s true

tonight when the sunset cedes power to the starry sky

like a lullaby, the words you said will play in my mind

a melody still enchanting

                 and never forgotten

Ohhh Lydi... this one has such an ache. how deeply we miss the people we love in these seemingly ordinary moments. it just fills you with a special kind of sorrow. i love the images you have created...the sun peeking through the trees, the sunset, the starry sky and the melody that will accompany you through the night. i am lost in this beautiful melancholy.

True how such simple tings can remind you of your lover. The moments you spend alone, knowing they would cherish them just as much if they were there. Walks and starry skies will do that to you.

I can just feel the emotion behind this beautiful poem, Lydi. It portrays a love that goes far beyond time and space. The line "like a lullaby, the words you said will play in my mind" really touched my heart.

Thanks so much, Dara. Lydi**
As most people said, good imagery and diction to support it.
I interpret this poem as one who has lost their lover but remembers their warmth and lullaby, hence the title "Never Forgotten". It's quite a message to how powerful memories can be--how they can overcome the sorrow of the absent lover.
Quite well, not bad. Nice picture, by the way.
