tasting the morning

tasting the morning

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

sitting on my porch this morning.....amazing sunrise earned a poem

"

"mimosa sunrise" by savlen

the sun jiggles like jello

in the dish of dawn

i ponder its flavor

cherry-orange-lemon

if it were a nail polish color

it would have a clever name

                        “amore a la italia” perhaps

or “a kiss of morning”

must write a thank you note to the artist

but where to send it?

no,  instead i  will sit here

tasting the morning

Very original ponderings, upon a delightful sunrise. I love mornings & I could feel your enjoyment, as well as your thoughts dancing around from idea to idea. I always forget to mention this, but your choice of artwork is always perfect for your piece & also startlingly vivid, just like your writing.

One of the benefits of working on a mountain, is the sunrises I get to experience,
I take lots of glorious pictures, but haven't found a way to describe them quite as
cleverly as you have here.

Love the taste of your sunrise.

An original take on a sunrise - one that brings it down-to-earth in its descriptions without diminishing it in anyway. Beautiful!

Pleasure is mine! Most Welcome :)
I only read the title and was already licking my lips. I love how your poetry completely absorbs into me. Sunrises are so special, with all the colours and emotions they bring on. I rarely catch them these days, so glad to read this. Oh, how i want to just paint my nails an 'amore a la italia'. there just cannot be a better name! Tasting your words is another experience to cherish.

You are welcome Lydia.
There truly is fire for the spirit and heart in a dawn like that. Each colour has meaning, each hue has a means to touch here, there and there again. And dear Lord, thank your God or gods for yet another day's welcome - tis good to be, isn't it. Brava, Lydi.. and not for the first time.

Wishing you everything you wish for yourself and your darlings through Christmas and long into the future. x
