the last word

the last word

A Poem by Lydia
"

a poem i wrote back in 2006 that is still relevant now.

The last word....I have heard
is what some folks desire

For it they’ll fight...with all their might
filled with brimstone and much fire

But far more smart....tis an ancient art
to let it peacefully ride
To simply ignore....avoid the war
till unfriendly sparks subside

Yes, last, not first...truly is the worst
contrary to popular belief
Seal your lips....come to grips
to achieve the greatest relief.

Only you could have delivered a sensible message in such a witty and elegant way. yes, this is absolutely relevant, even now, and until humans walk the earth. ah, if only people knew the true value of shutting up. lol. you have the wisdom of the sages, and the skill of all poets combined. Love this!

Mind if I paste this on my mirror, guilty as charged! Astute observation in your poetic discernment which many, including me, should heed.

This is my first read of your poetry....
I am struck by the poetic excellence of your write.
Your poem is a much needed word for the whole world.
The message is relevant even today and also universal in relevance.
I like the whole of second stanza very much.
Thanks for sharing this gem of yours....

This is so true. But I think it is a lesson few people learn. I think I have this down with most people, although I do admit to losing my cool on occasion.

Sometimes silence is more powerful a statement then any words we can say.
A very sound message in this great poem.

This is timeless and such an important message. Why do so many people think they "need" the last word? I whole heartedly believe the best thing to do is "To simply ignore....avoid the war till unfriendly sparks subside" as you state here - great poem Lydia :)

Wow! Lydia, this poem is superb with words construction. I agree with Coyote. Those lines are very good to be memorized. Well articulated.
