for just a little while

for just a little while

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

“My soul is full of longing for the secret of the sea, and the heart of the great ocean sends a thrilling pulse through me.” ― Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

seagulls sing their anthem of freedom

the jetty wears a wedding gown of sea foam white

inside castles made with care

waves do a glorious slow dance ‘neath shell chandeliers

i smell…taste…feel

the smorgasbord of sea air

as it envelops all things dark

it is here life is beautiful

sea shells control the dimmer switch of life

even if for just a little while

Just reading this made my eyes twinkle, as I recollected how the sea beckons and 'lures' a kid..
It's a funny feeling: Being a kid and smiling with happy memories of your childhood!!
Haha
Lovely..!

I agree dear Lydia. I haven't seen the sea in many years. This year, maybe. You are welcome.
Funny how walking on the shore line sets the heart and mind into its dreaming stage. God's creations are so amazing. Valentine

dear Lydi... there is magic at the ocean where harbor lights protect the ships from wrecking against the waves. The seagulls dancing with wings soaring to romantic rendevous' where mysteries unfold under
lavender skies and secrets exposed. Beautiful poetry. truly, Pat

There is something so calming about the ocean. You've captured that wonderful feeling of serenity in your gorgeous poem. I think I'll go for a walk on the beach.... :) Julie

mmm a lovely step into the calm of your poetic scene ...i have most definite recollections of the sea ..one is from Pisbo Beach CA ..i treated myself to several days at an expensive sea side resort hotel .. i was on my way to a travel nurse assignment in San Diego .. my "room" had two baths, three beds and three TVs .. it was about 900 sq ft and i used everything .. it was on the second floor and had a walk out balcony ..at night the gulls rode the air rising and falling so gently just ten feet away from touching .. and their soulful songs touched me like your poem has .. thank you for such a fine experience .. it will stay with me until i turn on the news ... which i should but most assuredly will .. i am a bit of a junky you see! :}

Beauti-ful! Photo drama with imagery and it inspired great feelings of the ocean. It had me feeling like a marine life form. Tyfs!
