shangri-la

shangri-la

A Poem by Lydia

artwork by hessam abrishami

a languid afternoon dallies

just long enough to find its poetry

fingers hover wistfully

circling till the right keystrokes are audaciously unclothed

a kiss blown from the upturned palm of a cagey muse

sequesters concepts

scattered like leaves in the gutter after a rainstorm

a whispered fantasy’s warm breath

gives way to frenzied utterings

and once again i’m transported to shangri-la

Your reviews make my day, Kelly. Thank you so much. Lydi***
oft times I can be driving through the mountains or national parks of Utah, and I am so awe struck by the beauty of nature, I feel it is my own Shangri-La,
I just don't seem to have the time to express it in poetry, I am so glad that you do.

Really love this poem.

Yes indeed, without prompt or a nudge & wink, you let the words flow so impromptu and what a fine, creative, imaginative piece of poetic prose your have conveyed! Kudos Lydia, yes, just relax and be inspired...love your style!

Such a kind review. Thank you, Stella. Lydi**
I love the atmospheres in this. When the urge comes sometimes so languid and sometimes so frenetic.
Lovely piece.

Exactly! Thanks so much, Ken. Lydi**
dear Lydi... my Shangri-la would also include a pair of colorful birds ... lingering on a magical chord of forever love, as seen in the art in your poem. In the mountains of Tibet where music is poetry, I concede to the magic of your poetry, as it reaches into the secret places in my world of sequestered moments.

:) Thank you, Pat....almost time for
Sunday Morning!
Vivid images play on my mind as I read...such a languid afternoon of frenzied fantasy. The muse creates quite a stir, feeds on our energy and yet leaves us satiated. My compliments on such beautiful poetry.

Thank you for taking the time to read me, Divya. I appreciate it. lydi**
we don't decide when.....the muse does....and when it does we are
on the road to Shang-rila......had me humming three dog night's Shambala.....
"how does your light shine?"

and when does the poetic light shine...i really like the sequestered concept----
