i continue

i continue

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

photography by ella lance01

the edges of then, now, and later blur

while ancestors teeter on a peep hole in a memory

artistically they weave meaning

from smudges of obscure bits and pieces

spiraling images walk past me

faster now

 faster

strange how the rattle of years past brings comfort

magically speaking in the language of my soul

as the clouds of a new year separate

i continue to continue

dear Lydia... I see an image peeping in your photo ... a face in the snow ... frozen and yet warm to the memories of loved ones. The beauty of the leaves so intricately designed in perfect harmony with our feelings. We do continue to continue. truly, Pat

Glad my words had that effect on you. Thank you for the review. Lydi**
The last S&G line fits so perfectly with this wistful poem. You are right age and experience are necessary to get certain moods. There is empathy here for all of us of that ilk.
It is when something from a shared past comes into the present; then the chord is struck.

So pleased you could identify with my words, Ken. Thank you very much for your review. Lydi**
Our past defines our present and consequently, the people we once knew and were close too, many now no longer with us, yet still, their camaraderie, their influence and their integrity, are still very much a daily presence that continues to inspire our very raison d'être!

A eloquently penned, poetic life study my friend, philosophically ebullient and accompanied so appropriately by such a soul stirring song!

Tom, I am honored by your review....you really "got" what I was saying. Thank you so much. Lydi**
Wonderfully laid words, Lydi. Seems memories make us so much more than we might be. Maybe we're magnets (in a way i believe we are) who attract what and who makes us become what we're meant to be. Who know.. but, tis my feelings having read such an introspective and calm as calm poem.

Elegant poetry with deep meaning here. The imagery illustrates how memory works, in bits and pieces. The words "faster now/ faster" can have an ominous meaning, especially as one ages. Also was pleased to hear "Flowers Never Bend" again, for the first time in years. Really liked this one.

I very seldom find myself without something brilliant to say about your writing but wish to echo the words of Alfred K. Below.

Spoken perfectly.
