i tumbled

i tumbled

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

my throat caught a fly ball

my heart played hopscotch

the setting sun reflected off the windshield of his truck

framing him for my viewing pleasure

in that instant the rest of the world

was thrown into deep dark shadows

yet there he was

            sparkling in my eyes

           oh yes!!

my golden fantasy man

twilight throbbed in my veins

as he removed his Foster Grants and smiled that perfect smile

savoring that precise moment

packaging it in a velvet drawstring sac

i tumbled into a fantasy i felt certain would last a lifetime

Here you delightfully describe the way I fall in love pretty regularly. I love the way you capture each little nuance of the scene & express it vividly. There's this certain "look" that many of us have, where we're more likely to have a meltdown *heh! heh! heh!* Fondly Margie

Men almost always assume it's only them that do a double take and a jaw drop; silly chaps, we're just more subtle and they often need a kick in the rear to notice. :))

Much enjoyed. Beccy.

If I wrote down my fantasies...(Sigh) words wouldnt be enough, I would have to paint them. This is to say, I love your description, the way you jot it down...I give a thumbs up!

Lol, I'm glad to be walking instead of driving when I see this, myself! I'm telling you, I know exactly where this comes from, Lydi...and I thank you for giving it poetic justice for women everywhere!

What a sly rhyming format you use... Clear-cut and expensive feeling... A vivid detailing of that fleeting fantasy that lasts for as long as the mind lets it... Very precise, I like it...

E, I always appreciate your lovely reviews. Thank you so much. Lydi**
How you do it time and time again Lydi, is almost beyond words, but then, without our words we would lose our craft. I'm in the cab behind checking out the blonde, checking out the guy in the truck up front.

As you may have guessed, I am also curious about what else is in that velvet drawstring sac & so shall read on....N

Thank you, Divya! Lydi**
It is amazing how our chemistry works and how those juices flow upon mid stream of desires. It all feels like you want to catch something so bad but it is fleeting from your mind grasp. Very romantic.
