you are my song

you are my song

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by gary benfield

you are my song

a melody lilting in the background

everyday of my life

at times my ears reach for the notes

longing to hold them

while i run through the sand

the song creeping through my window

on a balmy summer night

humming storms into my dreams

the song bruising me with its jagged crescendo

then massaging my pain

as it kisses my skin

my flesh sings you

every curious passage

a mystery inscribed on my soul

my song

If only one could buy love like this or even the understanding of how it can be if one allowed it. Lydi.. this poem is full of how it should be, how sweet feelings can fill hearts, can mke love real. My dear friend, you could bring peace to the world. Beautifully laid, and one knows, sincere..
