but the sun comes out

but the sun comes out

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by christiane vleugels
regrets open their petals
blossoming in the smoldering heat
june's mouth waters
the window pane reflects a multi-layered image
of what might have been
what perhaps was
and what is no more
but the sun comes out
raking through the muck of bitterness
a rainbow of sweet suggestion appears in the sky
just a dirty dream
  more of an unsolved mystery
suddenly wearing a clean-cut sensibility
the world of possibility explodes

I love your poetry for the sheer beauty of the words backed by beautiful thought and reasoning.

This poem touches me with its message of hope and the choice the writer makes to look at the brighter side.

Chris, I appreciate your lovely review. Thank you. Lydi**
The opening three lines a really sublime and draw the reader into this eloquent Lydism. I sense the optimist cheered by the sun's rays as they penetrate through skin that has endured. Very nice reading.

Thank you so much, Andrew....there is always hope. Lydi**
You really have my mind spinning with this part of your poem.
Of what might have been....
We all spend so much time thinking of how a good thing has escaped us.
What perhaps was ......
our hearts sometimes blurrrr the passed so much, that we think it was a dream.
and what is no more....
And finally we sadly accept reality.
If I read this part of your poem right, It Sounds like my life?
The whole thing is just perfect.
