from the great beyond

from the great beyond

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by ennya 7 of deviant art

like an echo fading in the night breeze
your memory comes and goes
it does that so often these days
makes me wonder, ya know....
are you reaching out telepathically
from the great beyond?

i try to read the wordless text
of your message
i watch as creeping memories try to walk
but instead stumble and fall into the great abyss
tonight the clouds seem to form your face

silly, but i feel certain
tomorrow morning even the tea kettle
will scream your name
i miss you

i don't drink tea, but i hear her name screamed in my memory so often...especially lately...i am missing her...and often wonder what she would be like today...if she had not passed those so many years ago.
what she might have done with a text message...or if she would have hated cell phones and texting like i do.
you conjure up strong memories with this one, Lydi.

Lydi, your imagery is wispy and yet palpable, and extremely clear!! Your words stir. My spouse is sitting downstairs in the same house, and yet I still have chills, and a strong sense of longing!!! Tell the truth... you are poet, and part conjuror!!! :):)

I am a poet...sometimes. A conjurer? Not so sure about that! I am touched by your review. Thank .. read more
This is a brilliant palpable way to describe how it feels when we sense someone accompanying us from behind the veil. I've had a special angel for the past 5 years who acts exactly like this. He was my best friend for a time & I can almost feel him chuckling softly when I go thru the kinds of situations that we would've both laughed our butts off about later! You captured that magic perfectly (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

"tonight the clouds seem to form your face"- How beautiful, yet tragic at the same time. Pleasure to read, Lydia. :)

Diana, I appreciate the visit! Thank you. Lydi**
dear Lydi.... Your heart is aware of the moods of the clouds that persuade our memories to feel the warmth of yesterday like blossoms of rose petals floating in the night sky. Even the Whippoorwill is singing a
familiar tune Your poem is misty and sentimental. truly, Pat
