Extinguished

Extinguished

A Poem by Lykos
"

Snuffing out the light

"
How do I fight it, the pain from the past,
Does it ever end or will it forever last.
Along with pain, I hold anger deep inside,
I grow tired of these feelings I always hide.

The weight on my shoulders I cannot withstand,
But I'm too proud to accept a helping hand.
I long to see light at the end of the tunnel,
Right now I feel I might buckle with the struggle.

Why did I always have to think of the sorrow,
then to be told of your death on the morrow.
In my mind I always thought of the worst,
And now for it I'm forever cursed.

You came into my life and brought your light,
But now extinguished, I'm stuck in the night.
Stuck walking aimlessly forever alone
And the happiness that once marked my face, no longer shown.
