The cry of the woman's body

The cry of the woman's body

A Poem by Aurora

Oh does my hourglass body
Make you salivate?
Do my perfectly cupped braziere
Entice you?
To crawl and grovel at my slender ankles
Placed on those four-inch high red pumps?

Does my walk lure you
Into my hatch, as I gently
Sway my hips and my bosom
Gently jiggles,
While my derriere pronouncedly
Beckons you to me?

Does my clavicle
Make you lick your lips
Wanting to leave love bites
Over my porcelain smooth neck
And beneath my pert breasts?

Does my sighing after a long day
Leave you breathless,
Casting you in reveries,
Where you are taking me
In every position you may
Have read in some outdated men's health magazine?

Why then does it disgust you
To see my menstrual blood
If it even leaves a miniscule residue
Behind my gray skirt?
The same skirt that you wanted
To hitch while you fantasized
Smacking my peach-bottomed a*s.

Why then does my being
On my menstrual cycle
Have me turn into a social monstrosity
A social pariah, a walking genocide,
Waiting to afflict the society
With some invisible disease;
The same society,
My foremothers have engendered?

Why must I hush and whisper
"I am on my period",
Or invent ludicrous euphemisms
"I got my chums",
"I am on the rag",
"It's that time of the month",
"The red river runneth"
"(While) I am down"?

If I were a man,
Would his menstruation not be celebrated?
Signify his fertility?
His unfailing virility?
A symbol for his machismo?
A furthering of his entitled patriarchy?

Why must I then wince and cower
And claim
That I am down?
When I am not down?
I am not.
I am not.
I am not.

I am anything but down!

this is the cry of the woman's emotions and mentality...because equality seems to be a myth....
it is supposed to be there, but such a double standard still exists...
we still need to find balance...great expression of that here.

Glad we see eye to eye.
I love this piece. Based from a mainly male dominant part of the world, this one speaks my mind.
Powerful word choices and strong message.

I am so glad we are talking, Dr.Kay.
Absolutely incredible! I hung on ever word, and related to it deeply.

Great to read so.
Your hour glass body does entice me, as does what your brassier holds - better when its off and free to jiggle as you move

Mensturation was never spoken of > She's on
Until I met a lady who speaks about it, and brings an old towel for safety on those days when she likes it best
The shower together afterwards is fun

Oh you naughty, naughty guy!
I think it is interesting the way you contrast the way a woman's body is seen and treated both when and when not menstruating. I think many women do not want to feel sexy and desired when menstruating but some do just as some men are and some are not put off. An intertesting question and I sense some anger in this one?

Questioning a masculinist gaze in a heteronormative world.
I'm ashamed to say Yes yes yes to your first part Aurora but we are easily enticed and excited and to be fair there is a game being played - but not by all. When we get beyond the mating game we both discover the truth! You have shared this truth superbly. I'm waiting for you to cover the other side now.
Cheers.

You take the reader in one direction and then suddenly take a sharp turn, and how I loved that and the message you gave. Yes women are deemed unclean in some cultures while they menstruate and are excluded. All that hush hush business etc. You hit the nail on the head with this and you did it with a sledgehammer and with such style.
