Broken mirror

Broken mirror

A Poem by Aurora

I know you
I was you
Last summer
Broken and confused
Shaky and unsure
Of what life
Had brought me
Of what I
Have given to life

Anomie and apathy
Those were what
The world was to me

I know you
I was you
Last summer
Unhappy and angry
A confused damsel
Faithless in relationships
Left stranded by friendships

From therapist to therapist
My broken walls
Crashed further
Leading me to
Undo years of control
Misdirected rage
All stemming from sorrow

Held captive
By my demons
Smothered by my cage
I wanted to break free

I know you
You are me
Looking at my mirror
No longer me.

I can feel the unfold of your lines so personal in this write my eyes are bleeding. self disdain flowing from the wretched in the acceptance of the wretched in ourselves was my breakfast of choice for a very long time. I know I say this often and it is probably annoying to some folks but i'm gonna say it anyway...

You
are
the
art
of
your
reflection!

I see. Will try.
sometimes when inside us there is a huge amount of ongoing pain, we will reach the stage when we are completely lost, completely split form the world, the hardest when we don't know exactly why we are in pain or why we are feeling it, because it means we can't define the main reason(s) behind it, if we knew the reason(s) it will be much easier to deal with it and step into the healing process, it's never a shame to ask for help, to be aware that You need it, sometimes it's only the first steps which are really difficult, then You can go on Your own much stronger, I find Your words really powerful, holding a deep personal degree, many out there need to know that they are not alone, and for sure Your words here give them that comfort.

all the best for You my friend.

Thanks Light. Comforting words.
Very reflective. No pun intended...I always have issues with poems about mirrors because of Leonardo Da Vinci's encryptions involving the mirror...it reveals that we are not the same as it would be the reversed image, however that's just me so I do get the point and I have to say that your use of "anomie and apathy" was beautifully placed. The world does tend to give us that focus when we are focused on ourselves..but they are different as one is the absence of social or self standard while the other has no concern or standard at all, complete indifference again the opposites, huh, probably why you used the mirror and brilliantly done as was the very intelligent usage of parallelism in your introspective journey down to the turn around which leaves this reader wondering what side breaks the mirror and why is it broken...before or after..suicide and rage are a natural process of development and the microcosm an macrocosm are linked by the Greeks.Thats actually pretty cool. The planets..the atom..the mirror the self and the microcosm ..reversing the atom to the planets or universe perhaps. You were her and now she is on the other side looking at you looking back no longer you..wow. Once again which one breaks the mirror? And behold..here we are in that eternal search for truth. This is absolutely wonderful, but I am never playing chess with you..lol. Seriously..a great read and write Aurora..thank you once again~

This is a mile long look into the self, the stuff that is supposed to help but falls unbelievably short. Sometimes we know ourselves better, when we know it in our hearts, the change, if it ever was a change is made. Razor sharp...loved it!!!

We have all been there, done that. Felt that.
yes, sometimes we find people who are just like we were at one time...and we see ourselves in them...
bravo to the speaker in this poem who broke free of being that person...the only hope is that the subject of the poem can do the same.
and also i agree with the misdirected rage that occurs when sorrow turns to anger and is thrown at the wrong objects.
