Nothing anymore

Nothing anymore

A Poem by Aurora

We shout at each other,
We bare our gritty teeth,
Our complaints test the acme of our patience,
Why are we still fighting?
When we should have left each other long ago?

If you ever cared for me,
Let me go.

You don't deserve this.
A bed turned cold,
A couch gone old,
One that bore prints,
Of our redolent, indulgent love,
Now gone to seed,
Flown out the window,
Bearing, nothing but wisps,
On the window-sil,
Of hushed glances,
And endless grievances.

If I ever loved you,
I should let you go.

I think,
I already have.

The day you said,
You smoked your last cigarette,
But I smelt it all the same,
On your breast pocket.

Covering your now
Swollen heart
Aching with pain
And guilt

And for having strayed
From me
From yourself.

We let each other
Go.

Just
Go.

Your words carry a very strong sense of clarity
the honesty in every line
Why .... that question remains endlessly
Why do people hold on to anything that seems to not work ?!!

Really well done

Verity....
this pulls at the Bunny's heart strings in your pleading disparity rumination a very relatable conversation... living in a love that's not living isn't living at all... was a line from a poem I wrote once a long time ago about this very same thing:(

Strange this continues, IF...

' ..Flown out the window, - Bearing, nothing but wisps, - On the window-sil, - Of hushed glances, - And endless grievances. - If I ever loved you, - I should let you go. ... '

Maybe, just maybe that IF harbours sweet memories, smiles and more.. but now, who knows what.. acceptance becomes refusal. If so, twas a strange kind of love that. Perhaps. Your writing's very dramatic, no punches pulled, truth and nothing but.. maybe, perhaps, who knows!

The above line. A pain that expand and never forgotten. Thank you Aurora for sharing the amazing poetry.

Thanks you Coyote.
often it is over before it is over...both parties cling to something that is no longer there...either because it is something they know and safer, or because they are to stubborn to let go.
eventually overstaying the welcome when it has long worn out causes even more bitter feelings...

You make a good point here... and when it gets to this point, tis best to get out and make as clean a break as possible... actually it is even better if it can be negotiated before ya get to this point... however, having now made my point.... I feel obliged to point out that your 'Nothing Anymore', was certainly enjoyed. All Good Things,

Yawn. Someone is salty.
When the relationship reaches the point of no return, when there is no pleasure, no enjoyment, what is the point of hanging on to a fragile thread? That's what seems to be left here. And once trust has gone, the relationship is dead. You have conveyed well a relationship in its death throes.
