What If I Screamed

What If I Screamed

A Poem by la Abeja

This poem is open to interpretation. For me though, it is of a friend who suffered through a miscarriage, and was afterward blessed with a beautiful baby girl.

Alone I sit

in thick

black, like coal.

The darkness that surrounds me.

Afraid to move

as it drinks

all my light.

Like water, it drowns me.

The sea came

crashed and roared.

And swept the life from me.

To a labyrinth

my heart

plunged down.

No way out could I see.

With each turn

walls, upon

towering walls.

Corridors without end.

A mouse under glass

running, searching

to find my escape.

Will I ever see light again?

What if i screamed?

Would anyone look up to see?

What if I cried?

Would anyone rescue me?

My eyes adjust,

just ahead

there is light.

A hope I finally see.

Coming closer

my open escape.

A new life given to me.

Since it's an abstract piece, it really is open for so many other interpretations. I see this with a pattern of despair then hope so this is pretty much applicable to several instances in life. Nice emotional build up.

Keep Writing. ^___^

*applauds* wonderful, wonderful imagery. It is rare that one finds a piece that can truly be painted in your mind.

Though I enjoy writing, I am only a novice. Many of my peers enjoy the pieces I have written in the past, but I would really enjoy hearing the opinion, no matter how harsh, of someone who does not kn.. more..
