You and Me

You and Me

A Poem by la Abeja

originally written 4-28-07

There was a place we used to go

Near a hidden pond

Down a winding road

And in this place there is a tree

Where we carved the names

Of You and Me

Vividly, I remember the day

You turned around

And walked away

Often I wonder Do you miss me?

Do you ever

Think of our tree?

That was a forever ago

Where you are now

I do not know

Still the breeze strokes my hair

Just like it did

When we were there

Yesterday I went to that place

Hoping, I guess

To see your face

I did find our tree

But it had not the names

Of You and Me

The bark grows over the scar in the tree

Where we carved the names of You and Me

In my dreams I still go back

To that day

In our past

To the day we found our tree

And carved the names

Of You and Me

Bittersweet this poem felt to me...Such wonderful memories, but sometimes good memories bring sad ones along with it. I enjoyed this piece.

Though I enjoy writing, I am only a novice. Many of my peers enjoy the pieces I have written in the past, but I would really enjoy hearing the opinion, no matter how harsh, of someone who does not kn.. more..
