Fun-house Mirrors

Fun-house Mirrors

Twisted reflections in fun-house mirrors

Images of times past; purposely bent

Lives lined with recollections disfigured

Remembering what we wish of days lived

Images of times past purposely bent

Creasing to heal, forgive; warping in pain

Remembering what we wish of days lived

Manipulations blur the recall of yesterday

Creasing to heal, forgive; warping in pain

Each new experience defines who we are

Manipulations blur the recall of yesterday

Traumatic times damage, scratch and scar

Each new experience defines who we are

Brightened by love or marred by abuse

Traumatic times damage, scratch and scar

Sorrow and joy both distort our view

Brightened by love or marred by abuse

An existence filled with curses and blessings

Sorrow and joy both distort our view

How do we sum up our plethora of memories

An existence filled with curses and blessings

Lives lined with recollections disfigured

How do we sum up our plethora of memories

Twisted reflections in fun-house mirrors

Liked this quatrain, your words are very, very true.

Thanks for entering the challenge, StacieJ.

Okay, I looked up what a pantoum is and I understand now. A Pantoum is a form of a vinallele (a poem with a specific rhyme scheme of A1bA2 abA1 abA2 abA1 abA2 abA1A2 that has five stanzas of three lines each and a concluding quatrain) that consists of a number of quatrains whose second and fourth lines of each stanza are repeated as the first and third lines of the next. Thus, though repeating, each line suceeds in giving new meaning and definition in the next stanza (often through punctuation). You did an excellent job of this.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. Thanks for sharing again...Gionelly*KiSS

A most exquisite piece my dear...the imagery is estupendous and the form--the repetition overwhelmingly surreal but beautiful. You did overdo yourself in this work. I am still reeling and attempting to understand the true meaning. Um, could you explain a little more about this contest because I noticed a number of things like for example that the 3rd line in the previous stanza was the same as the last line in the next stanza or the 2nd line in the previous stanza is the first line in the next stanza; what does this mean?
Thanks for sharing...LOVED IT!!! Keep writing...Gionelly*KiSS

Though I enjoy writing, I am only a novice. Many of my peers enjoy the pieces I have written in the past, but I would really enjoy hearing the opinion, no matter how harsh, of someone who does not kn.. more..
