Remembrance

The soul is on fire the body gone

I raise my eyes to the sky, you the dawn

Each hour of the day reborn

You are the light that through all time shone

 

When I sit in the places you were

Every fragment of memory held dear

The good the bad all you feared

Were the fibres of life you steered

 

The footprint in my heart I see

The light will always be

The one that guides me to the shore

Anchoring my character at the core

 

Orphaned you held my hand, carried me

You outdid your past forever you are free

Solemn and utterly profound!! Fantastic! If I may be so bold as to suggest playing with punctuation simply to separate and emphasis the important thoughts. It would enrich the aesthetic and the flow. Well done!

Such tender reflections of a life so close, so giving, and now falling into the distance. But always the dearest lives live on in us. Always.

Memories and places. Make us who we are.

The above lines are true. We will follow the foot prints of elders and create our own. Life is constant lesson. I enjoyed the complete poem. Thank you Moon for sharing the excellent poetry.
