Chapter (5) POEMS ARE ADDICTIVE

Chapter (5) POEMS ARE ADDICTIVE

A Chapter by MAD ENGLISHMAN

POEMS ARE ADDICTIVE.

I tried to write a poem,

my friends had said I should.

I started writing words and stuff,

It wasn't any good.

The words they kept on coming,

the concentration's quite intense.

My friends said "just give it up,

It's not making any sense."

I've got the bug and cannot stop,

I have to write things down.

My finger ends are blistered,

My forehead's furrowed frown.

The pills don't help, the pain's still there,

Doc says I have to cease.

This writing's getting out of hand,

It's like some strange disease.

Just one more verse and then I'll stop,

I can do it anytime.

I hear my words and need to write,

I have to make it rhyme.

In rehab now with padded room,

And pills to make me sane.

But if I ever get the chance,

I'll do it all again.

Doctor, DOCTOR MORE PILLS.

So easy to relate to; we poets have the bug, impossible to stop.

Beccy.

I enjoy the writing as much as the reading.
Haha brilliant, I hate when you are up all night on a poetry binge and then for some reason your tongue cant stop rhyming things!

I have poetry journals
I loved this!
I pictured the scene in my head.
Some of this poem made me laugh for some reason.
I love how you have explained this whole story, of how you feel in love with writing, and how after that the words just kept coming, you couldn't stop writing.
Writing is a wonderful thing, im glad your friends got you to love it.
Great piece :)

Anytime :)
Well written and with just the right touch of serious undertone. Poets are a curious breed, it seems we are almost driven to write; but then, poetry is the most ancient form of artistic communication. T

Hi Angi, you'll have to suffer like the rest of us till the doc opens for business on Monday
THat's what writers do. Some of them go crazy and some of them take pills, and some of them drink, but through it all thety writ. Because that's what writers do.
