Chapter (21) BLACK CROW

Chapter (21) BLACK CROW

A Chapter by MAD ENGLISHMAN

Black  Crow

Black Crow, shiny Crow

Standing on the lawn.

Dig your beak down deep

To find a juicy worm.

Black Crow, noisy Crow,

Sitting in a tree.

Your raucous call is tuneless

But sounds sweet, to you and me.

Black Crow, clever Crow

Fly quick and find your clan.

The farmer’s coming with his gun,

To shoot you if he can

I like this! It has the shape and sound of a traditional nursery rhyme, which always appeals to me. It's simple, but clever at the same time. The rhyme pattern is good, and it has a pleasing, almost musical rhythm. Since it's listed as a chapter, I assume there's a book to go with it, so I look forward to reading more from you. If it's a book of pieces like this one, I hope you publish a print version, so I can add it to my library. Well done!
