I write

I write to understand Passion.

Do you know such a feeling?

A consuming sensation, seeping out of one’s soul.

Infusing into the air so, it may brush the skin of passersby.  

It enthralls the mind with its captivating voice.

Nothing can imprison such a sense.

 

I write to understand Love.

Some distinguish it with disgust.

Love cripples the mind they seethe.

While others savor its sweet taste.

Love shapes the soul they swoon.  

There is no true definition.

 

I write to understand Anger.

Or shall I say rage?

So many words may take its dwelling.

Though I care not.

It is blinding…

It is the influenza of our generation.

 

I write to understand Sorrow.

The ability to snap one’s mind.

Lies within it clutches.

Ones preserved insensitive may suffer in silence.

All the while, they cling to the cliff of sanity.

Don’t judge one’s pain from the number of tears that lick their cheeks.

 

I write to understand Myself.

Passion controls me.

Love brings me confusion.

Anger threatens to smoother my soul.  

Sorrow lingers in the cracks of my eyes.

I love this poem.
It is beautiful in its descriptive flow...so many lines that stood out for me. Like this one:

I think you hit the nail on the head with anger "It is the influenza of our generation", although sum would argue that love can be that virus too. More people should write, and read others writing, to gain a better understanding of the world and see for themselves that their are more minds with questions than just their own.
With every word written and every verse read, we add to all of these understandings and grow into the person we become through the understanding of others, as well as our own.
