Depression

They say that depression is a state of mind,

that with a few positive thoughts you'll feel better in no time.

They say life's to short for you to spend it upset,

crying about the s****y parts of life and yet,

when they feel down it's the end of the world.

Your feelings are made less because you're just one girl,

or guy who is fighting for normalcy again

and all you've ever wanted in this world is a friend.

A friend who is strong enough to carry you through

the pain and fear you've always hid inside of you.

You've tried to fight the darkness all by yourself,

but it's only made worse by the snide comments of everyone else,

but f**k the haters because the don't mean s**t

and the comments directed at you aren't true not one little bit.

But still you run, still you hide

one more tear, one more cry

one more pill, one more slit

because you believe in those snide comments

every last word, every last bit.

The scars upon your wrist just attract more hate,

you end up with names like drama-queen and fake.

Until finally you can't take it anymore

and the haters they cry but no from grief, from disappointment because you're not there to torment anymore.

Because with a bullet to the head

or a blade to the the wrist or the abdomen or the leg,

you've taken your own life so the bullies win instead.

But depression, it does that to you.

You feel like there's no way out,

no way to be free.

I should know. That was, is and may always be me.

Depression will not just go with positive thoughts , its chemicals in the brain that can be balanced
