Color me RED

Color me RED

A Poem by ANNA

I'm a rose
With a thick stem
Sharp thorns
And wilted petals
The dirt crumbles beneath me
I fight to root myself up
Dying inside out like a broke arrow
I have only the sun to look for help
Fading fast under the stars
My color glows dim
Where do I exist if not watered?
How do I bloom if not shined on?
When do I grow if not in soil?
What do I call myself if not a rose?

I like "I fight to root myself". Something very elemental about that line.

I Love the color red So I had to read your poem...I really enjoyed how you make your readers ponder our very existence...if big a rose, then what would it be called...as the saying goes...a rise by any other name. A lovely poem.
