At Night

At Night

A Poem by Malia

She is the pillow that is being laid on while it's soaking with tears
She is the heartbeat you hear in a scene when an attack is being played on a victim
She is that blanket that lays on the floor but never gets picked up
She is a step away from death when a car crosses the street
She is that pain in the pit of your stomach
Is that cut that continuously bleeds
That gaze that feeds
Those arms in reach of need, but show glimpse of want
Her alone can make you weep
She is sorrow with a twist of disgust, from that apple poor snow ate
She is a room with not a sound in sight
Is a tree standing alone in a field full of ashes
She is filled with tears, a victim to life, wanting to get picked up off the street but her stomach constantly bleeds, she wants to be fed life but weeps from nothing to eat, not a glimpse of hope in sight with the ashes she lays in.
