The Unwritten Rose

The Unwritten Rose

A Poem by Amanda Naomi

The last unwritten song of my heart

Is a fearless rose

Growing from somewhere below

--       My layers

Of unkempt loyalt and fragility

It rises unknown

Bravely through my lungs

A twisted and relentless thorn

Piercing me

In my yearning to be free

And while a rose

Of any other name

Would smell as sweet

What of its song?

This is really pretty. The rythm is really flowing, and I loved the ending stanza's question. It made it feel like the thoughts of this poem kept going past what was written and led to more possibilities (if that makes sense.) I think this is beautifully written.

A beautifully written piece. I love the progression and the last stanza is my favorite!

This is deep. I like how you explain the person is afraid of being brave (or just opening themselves to the world). I am a little confused with the last stanza. Perhaps it is just me :P. If you can explain that to me. Thanks
